Ein Glossostigma-Rasen ist wunderschön, aber pflegeintensiv. Es dauert relativ lange, bis die Pflanzen gut angewachsen sind und der Teppich dicht wird. Triebe, die nach oben wachsen, drückt man immer wieder vorsichtig mit einer Pflanzpinzette nach unten in den Boden.

Glossostigma braucht sehr viel Licht. Die Beleuchtungsdauer wurde variiert: Anfangs 6 Stunden Licht + 3 Stunden Pause + 6 Stunden Licht. Sobald sich Algen zeigten wurde die Beleuchtungsdauer reduziert auf 4 Stunden Licht + 4 Stunden Pause + 4 Stunden Licht.
