Besonders Besitzer junger Hunde sollten bevorzugt Latexspielzeuge verwenden, da junge Hunde noch sehr spitze Zähne haben und dazu neigen, auf einem Spielzeug nicht nur herum zu beißen sondern es komplett zu zerbeißen. Hierbei könnten Teile davon verschluckt werden.

Da Latex im Magen- und Darmtrakt jedoch nicht aushärtet und im Normalfall problemlos ausgeschieden wird, ist das Verschlucken eines kleinen Stückchens dieses Materials in der Regel unbedenklich. Dennoch sollten auch Latex-Spielzeuge dem Hund grundsätzlich nur unter Aufsicht überlassen werden.

Zusätzlich ist es dringend ratsam, beschädigte Latex-Spielzeuge umgehend auszutauschen bzw. zu ersetzen.
